It’s rare to examine research on education, health and quality of life in Louisiana without also reading about the connection to (or impact on) the state’s workforce.
 

Louisiana’s civilian labor force, currently comprised of more than 2 million people, is the area of much focus for Louisiana legislators, businesses and industries, and employees and job-seekers.
 

Current efforts are focused on increasing the high school graduation rate and college completion rate, while decreasing the outmigration of college students and encouraging skilled workers to remain in Louisiana. Efforts are also focused on exploring what our state can do to better prepare our young people for the economy of the future, which calls for a rich pool of knowledgeable workers.
 

The Picard Center, in collaboration with other UL research centers, is working with the Louisiana Workforce Commission to develop a method and the tools for providing enhanced information on workforce demand and projected supply.
